HOW DID THE ROTARY CLUB OF KILGORE BEGIN?

One of more than 34,000 clubs from more than 200 countries and geographical areas, The Rotary Club of Kilgore (now part of District 5830) was granted Charter Number 3371 on April 20, 1934, with 26 charter members.

Presently, some three-dozen members connect with one another, exchange ideas, and take action, and we also enjoy our meetings, service projects, and social events.

Presently, our biggest fund raiser is our flag project. Six times a year ---President's Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Patriot Day, and Veteran's Day---we put out more than 1,200 U.S. flags in and around Kilgore for businesses and residents. We thank each of our patrons for their annual payments that total some $45,000 and thereby enable us to do more in our community and around the world.

We have a Shoe Project, Dictionaries to Second Graders at Chandler Elementary and Sabine Elementary, Send 4-6 students to RYLA Camp, Honor a top boy and girl scholar athlete from Kilgore High School and Sabine High School, Give away eight $1000 scholarships to Kilgore College to seniors from KHS and SHS, Sponsor a Rangerette Luncheon each year, and sponsor Boy Scout Troup 252.
